| Vanek is much better than Moulson... I do agree though, super sketchy move. | |

| Vanek and JT could be huge. They're banking on them doing so well together that Vanek doesn't want to leave, with their team making the playoffs and showing the guy they can do it. With a lack of tender or defensive depth, I don't know if they can. In the meantime, Sabres get away from that shitty contract, pick up two more than likely mid-range picks in their respective rounds, and actually have a chance at signing Moulson if he likes it there. He probably won't like losing constantly, but there's a chance he sees some potential there... and there definitely is now that they have 2 1sts and 3 2nds this year. | |

| Basically, the Isles gave up a 1st, a 2nd, and a guy that could probably have been resigned for 1 year with Vanek... and that's not going to make them a finals contender. Stupid trade. | |

| I just dont get it, vaneks been on the decline, and you trade a guy who has clear chemistry with john tavares who you probably could have resigned, on top of that you give up two high round picks including your first lol even if vanek does resign i still dont get it, sounds like wang in the background pullin his retard strings again. Moulsons put up higher goal totals the last few years than vanek too. And like i know that vanek is still the more skilled player, but just everything about it still doesnt make sense. | |

| Well, Vanek last year was an absolute beast before his slump. With Tavares, who knows how good he'll be. But from every other point of view, this deal is retarded for the islanders. | |

| Vanek was one of the better players in the league last year on a terrible Buffalo team. Moulson played with Tavares, Vanek played with? Vanek single handedly carries Buffalo's limp carcass around.

| Vanek is way better than Moulson. You guys are nuts if you think otherwise. The deal is obviously sketchy for the Islanders because they could potentially lose Vanek in the summer via unrestricted free agency. But IF (big if) he re-signs, it's a fine trade for NYI.
Buffalo did really well for themselves in this trade because they got a 1st and a 2nd, and can now deal Moulson again at the deadline for potentially another 1st rounder.

| Buffalo will have 17 first and second rounders from 2010 to 2013 or something ridiculous like that | |

| If it comes to it, the Islanders can trade Vanek if he makes it clear he won't resign, I like it at least fro the fact that it shows the islanders fans they aren't just complacent on continuing to rebuild for a million years, and they want to go and aggressively try to get really good talent.
And i think its funny how the last few years nobody seems to want to go to the islanders, like nabokov and vishnovsky, but once they actually lace up for them they seem to really want to stay there.

| Moulson has played lights out with Tavares though, and I bet he signs wherever he does for less than vanek. The dudes scores 30+ the last three seasons (not counting the lockout) and is a better two way player than vanek, on top of that you have most likely a middle first rounder and a second. It's stupid by every stretch whether or not vanek is the better offensive player. Moulsons offensive numbers with Tavares dont justify the trade. I watch Vanek all the time, he's a fuckin floater. I'm not saying that he won't do better with Tavares, he may or may not, but looking at what moulson has continued to do with him just shows the end doesnt justify the means. | |

| Yeah, I don't know if it's possible for Vanek to do SO much better with Tavares that it's worth losing a 1st and 2nd rounder for. I'd probably put the # of points to make it worth it at about 70-80 for vanek. Because for the amount of value going back, he'd better be close to a PPG player. | |

| If the Islanders can re-sign Vanek this is a perfectly reasonable trade. They seem like they're banking pretty big on him having a ball playing with Tavares and wanting to stay. | |

| If vanek scores 40 or 50 goals in a full season with Tavares next year, then yes it is a reasonable trade, because they already traded someone capable of 30, with a lot more to offer defensively than him. | |

| Which probably isnt going to happen lol again if he goes out and puts up any less than that, the end doesnt justify the means | |
